Clicking noise?
There is this really annoying clicking noise when I play the Sims 3. It's whenever I play, even in shop mode. But it's not there while saving the game. I have no idea how to stop it!

I have everything updated.

Can anyone help, please?

Did you get Supernatural? I haven't had this issue but I've heard of at least one other simmer who would hear random weird clicking sounds after getting Supernatural. If that's where it came from, it's probably a bug and you'll have to wait for a patch to fix it.

If you haven't gotten Supernatural, what, if anything, did you do with your game before the clicking noise started? (New CC, mods, other expansions... anything at all?) Or perhaps did it start right after installing the latest patch? I suppose it might be possible that some of the Supernatural bugs got thrown into the patch, if there aren't any other likely suspects.

I do have Supernatural, but it started before I installed it. :/

I can't remember installing anything new right before the sound came, unfortunately. Do you think I should remove all the CC to see if that helps? And if I do, what happens with the sims I have using this CC?

Hmm. Loading sims who are using removed CC will do one of three things: things like accessories will just disappear; hairs will revert to something EA; skintones will result in pure black sims that may or may not be fixable just by adding the CC back into the game (not sure what clothes do, haven't tried it; I think they do like hairs, though). I would not recommend loading one of your old games after removing CC just to do a check.

I think you should try starting a new game first, using some CC-free sim, and just see first of all if this is happening to all games. If it is, then you can try removing the CC (and clearing caches of course) and loading the new game to test, so you don't risk destroying your old saves. If removing CC doesn't help, I have no idea what it could be, and all I can suggest is backing up saves and re-installing, odious as that is.

If the new game doesn't have the clicking sound even with the CC still installed, you'll probably have to do with your old saves what I once had to do to get rid of a nasty bug that had gotten attached to my save files: move all the sims you're attached to in together, stick them in the bin, and put them in a brand new neighborhood. If you move them all in together, at least you won't lose all your relationships (you also keep job level, inventory, skills, etc., though some of the charisma skill challenges don't stay completed).

I had a clicking sound recently, when I logged onto the simport/online thing. It just kept with the loading circle and I turned off the notifications and started playing my game. During that whole session it was making a faint clicking sound. I don't have auto log-in on so next time I played it was gone.

annoying clicks!
so if i leave the auto sign in off, i wont get the clicking? It is so annoying!! it drives me crazy! I have noted that if you have the stereo on in the game it seems to drown the sound out, of course this doesn't help if your sims are trying to sleep!
